Physical Education KS3-KS5
-
The Physical Education curriculum is designed to develop student’s physical knowledge and ability; understanding of their own body; equip students with a variety of skills and an enjoyment of exercise and competitive sports. The awareness of both mental health and physical health is embedded throughout the curriculum with the goal of leading an active life.
At Connie Rothman, our PE curriculum aims to ensure that all students can:
Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
Are physically active for sustained periods of time
Engage in competitive sports and activities
-
Physical Education is taught during a 2-hour session, once a week on a Friday afternoon. Students participate in a range of physical activities over a sustained period. These include competitive activities to develop confidence and interaction, along with skills-based activities. Students become more competent, confident, and expert in their techniques and apply them across different sports and physical activities, which include the following:
Badminton, basketball, football, rounders, and table tennis
Take part in outdoor and adventurous activities which present intellectual and physical challenges and be encouraged to work in a team, building on trust and developing skills to solve problems, either individually or as a group
-
By the end of their time at Connie Rothman, students will have gained an understanding and appreciation of the benefits of exercise and sports.
Recognise improvements in their personal ability
Reflect and self-evaluate their own performance
Desire to continue exercising or a particular sporting activity in their spare time
Experience both mental and physical benefits
